Meet Your Acupuncturist: Dr. Elizabeth Doane L.Ac. DACM
Hi my name is Elizabeth Doane I am a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist in the state of Maine, certified by the NCCAOM. Born in South Portland, I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Southern Maine earning my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Holistic Healthcare. While completing my undergraduate education I worked at Lois’ Natural Marketplace which sparked my interest in natural healthcare and healing. In addition to my training in Chinese herbal medicine I have additional training in western herbal medicine and nutritional supplements.
I completed my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM). In 2012 I completed my Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) also at PCOM in San Diego, CA . The masters program is a 4 year intensive training program consisting of over 3,500 credit hours of both academic and clinical training. My clinical training began in the first year of school, giving me ample hands on training to develop my skills in both the onsite school clinic and the offsite clinics operating in cooperation with the University of California San Diego medical school system. I have extensive training in acupuncture, moxibustion, chinese herbalism, diet & nutritional therapy. Pacific College believes in the concept of integrative medicine and as such I underwent a thorough education in Western Medicine in addition to my Chinese Medicine studies.
While at Pacific College I took classes in Japanese Acupuncture and Kampo Herbal Medicine, in addition to my studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I also furthered my studying by working in Elizabeth Talcotts’ clinic who specializes in Japanese Meridian Therapy as taught by the masters Ikeda Masakazu & Shudo Denmai. I have attended advanced work shops in San Francisco, CA taught by Master Japanese Acupuncturist Shudo Denmai. I have completed additional training in the Balance Method Acupuncture as taught by Dr. Richard Tan.
My specialty is you! Many practitioners choose an area to focus on within the scope of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), but through my training in Japanese Acupuncture, Balance Method Acupuncture, Orthopedic Acupuncture and TCM I am able to treat whatever walks through my door. Areas of focus I enjoy working on are: orthopedic problems (pain & injuries), women’s healthcare (menstrual, hormone balance, infertility), and digestive health.
