To all my past patients,

Sorry to any of those I did not get to personally talk to. As of November 7th I am joining a new practice, I will be available to see patients in Biddeford, ME at Saco River Acupuncture. I hope to see many of you there. If it is too far away and you would like some referral information feel free to send me a direct email at elizabeth@sacoriveracu.com and I will do my best to offer a few possible options for you. In regards to insurance, in my new office I will only be accepting Anthem as an Out of Network provider, so if you saw me since September with Anthem, it will be handled pretty much the same in my new office. If you have not seen me since September, make sure to verify that you have Out of Network benefits with Anthem (Maine Teacher policies do!). As of the end of October I will be out of network with all other insurance providers, we will happily give you a super bill to receive partial reimbursement if you have out of network coverage with another company. If you would like referral information or have any questions please reach out to me directly at elizabeth@sacoriveracu.com.

If you would like to make an appointment in my new office you can email info@sacoriveracu.com or call 207-558-1131, they are all set to get you on my schedule, make sure to ask to see Elizabeth! My new address is 443 Main Street, Biddeford ME 04005. It is located in a gray building, set back from the road, with plenty of parking. There is a central entrance from the parking lot, and the practice office is located straight forward when you go inside.

It has been an honor to get to be your acupuncturist for however long our journey has been together, some for many years and some just a short time. I hope to see many of your faces in my new office. -Elizabeth Doane

Welcome,

Do you want to manage STRESS better?
Do you have PAIN that you can't get rid of?
Do you have an INJURY that you want to heal faster?
Are you having problems with FERTILITY?
Do you have MENSTRUAL PAIN or PMS?
Do you have SLEEP problems?

Do you have ANXIETY or DEPRESSION?
Do you have DIGESTIVE problems?

So you may be wondering, what is acupuncture? Does it hurt? Can it help me?  Well I am here to answer those and many other questions about acupuncture and chinese medicine in the following pages.

Acupuncture is one of the many tools in my tool box of helping your body heal.  The two main forms of acupuncture I practice are Japanese style acupuncture, and the Balance Method.  Japanese acupuncture is a gentle form of acupuncture using very fine needles, which are often not felt, it entails treating both the branch (the symptoms that brought you in) and the root (the underlying cause of dysfunction).  By doing both a root & branch treatment not only are the presenting symptoms alleviated but the overall body is strengthened and brought closer to its natural state of wellness.  The other form of acupuncture I practice is known as the Balance Method.  The balance method is great for treating pain conditions.  By using mirrors and images the body is able to balance out the area of pain without ever doing any local treatment.

The tradition of Chinese Medicine as a whole places great emphasis on lifestyle management in order to prevent disease before it occurs. Chinese medicine recognizes that health is more than just the absence of disease and it has a unique capacity to maintain and enhance our capacity for well being and happiness.
